What is STCW?
STCW — the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers — is the global framework established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) that sets minimum qualification and training requirements for seafarers serving on seagoing ships. First adopted in 1978 and significantly updated in 1995 and 2010 (Manila Amendments), STCW is the foundation of seafarer qualification worldwide.
