A Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) is an offshore support vessel specifically designed to supply offshore oil and gas platforms, drilling rigs, and subsea installations with essential materials including food, fuel, water, drilling fluids, chemicals, and equipment. PSVs are the workhorses of the offshore oil and gas industry.
PSV Design Features
PSVs have a large open aft deck for carrying deck cargo, below-deck tanks for liquid mud, brine, and base oil, dry bulk tanks for cement and baryte, and refrigerated stores. Modern PSVs are equipped with Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems allowing them to hold precise position alongside offshore structures without anchoring.
